Visit to the Marquardt test field site

October 2022

Following the SoMMet kick-off meeting in Braunschweig, the project partners visited the Marquardt test field site near Potsdam on 13 October 2022. The long-term outdoor observatory was selected as one of SoMMet's three test field sites.

The site hosts a wide range of cosmic-ray neutron sensing (CRNS) instruments operated by the University of Potsdam (UP DE), alongside a network of point-scale soil moisture sensors and instruments for monitoring relevant meteorological and hydrological variables. Following an introductory presentation on CRNS, the partners toured the observatory and participated in a practical exercise measuring soil moisture under outdoor conditions.
