The 4th "Metrology for Meteorology and Climate – MMC 2023" international conference will be held in Torino, Italy on 25–29 September 2023. A session devoted to needs for metrology in soil moisture measurements (SoMMet and other projects) is currently being prepared.

The 2nd "TERENO–OZCAR Conference" will be held in Bonn, Germany on 25–28 September 2023. It is a joint conference of the French OZCAR (Critical Zone Observatories: Research and Application) and German TERENO (Terrestrial Environmental Observatories) networks. The project SoMMet will be presented there.

Timeline of events
Mutual training
On 21 February 2022 a mutual training between metrology and non-metrology experts of the SoMMet partners was held online. The meeting was open also to other experts outside of the SoMMet Consortium. Altogether about 65 persons took part in this event.
Meeting on WP5 Creating impact
On 12 January 2023 the meeting dedicated to WP5 was held online. The focus was on plans and actions related to creating impact.
Visit of Marquardt test field site
In connection to the Kick-off Meeting, on 13 October 2022 the SoMMet partners visited the Marqaurdt field site where a large suite of CRNS detectors are operated by UP DE. Marqaurdt is one of the three high-level test field sites of SoMMet, see TEST FIELD SITES.
Kick-off Meeting
On 11 and 12 October 2022 the Kick-off Meeting of SoMMet was held in PTB, Braunschweig, Germany.
Project started!
On 1 October 2022 the project 21GRD08 SoMMet has officially started. The project time frame is 36 months (until end of September 2025).
