Visit of Marquardt test field site

In connection with the project Kick-off meeting, on 13 October 2022, the partners visited the Marquardt site. This outdoor long-term observatory has been selected as one of SoMMet's three high-level test field sites, see: TEST FIELD SITES. A large suite of CRNS (Cosmic-Ray Neutron Sensing) sensors operated by the University of Potsdam (UP DE) are located on this site, alongside a network of point-scale soil moisture sensors and other instrumentation for meteorological and hydrological observations of relevant parameters. Following an introductory talk on the CRNS methodology, the project partners visited the site and undertook a hands-on exercise in measuring soil moisture under real outdoor conditions.
