In connection to the project Kick-off meeting, on 13 October 2022 the partners visited the Marqaurdt site. This site (outdoor long-term observatory) has been selected as one of the three high-level test field sites of SoMMet, see: TEST FIELD SITES. On this site, a large suite of CRNS (cosmic-ray neutron sensing) sensors are operated by the University of Potsdam (UP DE), in combination with a network of point-scale soil moisture sensors and other instrumentation for meteorological and hydrological observations of relevant parameters. After the introductory talk on the CRNS methodology, the project partners visited the site and performed hands-on exercise on soil moisture measurement under real outdoor conditions.
